Basis:

The Forest Road (E17) Project was a Project conducted from September 2016 to February 2017. The task at hand was to add another floor to the residential flat building for the price of £250,000. The Client who owned the block of flats was extremely good to work with and as result the end result was fantastic. Let’s take you through the process.
Body of Project
First and foremost, we underpinned the building (The Act of Nourishing the foundations) to
ensure that the project was properly anchored and

safe. Then we applied scaffolding to the building, to further comply with the building regulations and create the sufficient working conditions needed to vertically extend the
residences. Following the completion of this task, a core part of the project was the demolition process, in which the existing roof, the internal partitions and for the sake of safety and efficiency, the second floor were all demolished, allowing us to not only further extend the property and restructure the roof, but also refurbish the second floor to be in accordance with the new third, providing superior living spaces for the residents of the second floor to compensate for the extension hassle.
Following the termination of the demolition process, the construction process begins. The Steel Beams are placed (in order to hold and support the building), and the walls, made of timber, are placed around the circumference of the then existing -roof - this would serve as a base for the insulation, the breathable membrane, ect. Then, the Partitions are placed, made

of plywood, timber and PAVAFLEX.
Pavaflex
Pavaflex (which isn’t commonly used) is one of the most efficient materials used for insulation- essentially a natural, breathable and flexible material made for wood fibers treated with inorganic salt to provide fire and pest resistance, in contrast to something like kingspan where they are neither of these things. Following the placement of the Partitions we began the installation of the MVHR systems (The Mechanical
Ventilation System) which is constantly filtering and

replacing the air inside the building as the building is air tight and a building with an MVHR system can benefit from clean air and a better property health.
VMZINC Roofing
Following that, the Roof was completed with a combination of Fiberglass and VMZINC. Benefits of VMZINC include its durability, minimal expansion, malleability, recyclability, cost effectiveness, and its minimum creak - as well as its ability to last well over 100 years - Something most of its competitors aren’t comparable to.
